So whats your feeling on the windfarm? I have to say I feel I am suffering from some NIMBY here. I do not want windmills in the sound. Not only do I think they will be ugly, but I have no faith in any big business venture, utilizing public lands....My questions is who will clean it up when our technology increases and they are obsolete, or when the company goes bankrupt (think enron, worldcom etc), who then will take responsability for removing them, or maintaining them? let me guess the taxpayers? I am a firm believer in alternative energy...the more we have the better...but not at the expense of our oceans. I like the idea of having them on the mediam strips of highways, or the landfills. I also, have been sailing in the sound and been caught in Fog. Its scary enough being out there and not being able to see other boats, let alone 400 towers. I must agree with seawitch here on the plight of the American people....we are no longer a government for the people by the people. we are a government for big business...how else would the big oil companies be able to keep so much of the alternative energy patents to themselves and not have to use them...instead we go about raping mother earth be it Alaska, Nantucket Sound or Babylon.

I wish I could say I was informed enough to have a solid, concrete opinion ~ I know we have to find alternatives, yet at what expense? I know that my husband and I have long to find a corner of the world that is untouched to make our abode (as unrealistic as it is)...but how long would it remain so? I just get frustrated at far we've come with technology at the expense of the destruction of our Mother. What will it matter in the end, when we are all fighting for the last habitable expanse of earth... So much work to do ~ So little time...
